DON'T FORGET
To enter the Bahamas you will need a passport or an original birth certificate with a
raised seal on it. A DRIVERS LICENSE AND VOTERS REGISTRATION CARD ARE NO LONGER ACCEPTED.
Also, don't forget the $15 Bahamas departure fee.
Bring lots of film, you will definitely use it! Bring your prescription medicines.
If you forget, or need medical assistance, there is a doctor and a clinic in Governor's Harbour.

Bring your fishing and dive gear (you can rent tanks on the island). Bring plenty of sunscreen and
bug repellent. Although they are not usually bad, the national bug of the Bahamas, the
noseeums, do occasionally come out at dusk.
Dress is casual and the average year round temperature ranges from the low 70's from
November - March to the mid 70's in April and May to the low 80's in June - October.
There
is always a gentle breeze year round.

Groceries
There are plenty of stores on the island to buy groceries, however, since everything is
imported, the prices tend to be higher than in the states. You can bring in your own
food items for personal consumption. We strongly suggest you pack a cooler with your favorite frozen
foods and meats. One of the best stocked grocery stores on the island is Thompsons which
is just north of the house in Gregory Town. Big Rock General Store in Rainbow Bay is the most convenient and has a pretty good
selection. Most places are closed on Sunday, so plan accordingly.
Liquor
Liquor is very inexpensive, however beer is rather expensive (about $35 a case).
The best
place to buy spirits, etc. is the Sands Liquor Store in Governor's Harbour.
Instead of
heading north to Rainbow Bay, head south from the airport to Governor's Harbour.
Water
If you need ice or bottled water, the best place for this is LUTRA water in Hatchet Bay.
A
20lb. Bag of ice is $4.50, and a gallon of bottled water is $1.50. Hatchet Bay is about
three miles north of Rainbow Bay. There is also a small grocery and liquor store in
Hatchet Bay.
