Away from the hustle and bustle of commercial resort areas, Rainbow Bay is nevertheless easy to reach by both private and commercial plane or by boat. The closest airport, Governor's Harbour, lies just 11 miles south of Rainbow Bay. There are two other airports, North Eleuthera and Rock Sound. There are commercial flights available daily from Fort Lauderdale and Miami, FL. Flight time is approximately an hour to an hour and a half. |
The following airlines fly into Governor's Harbor (GHB) or North Eleuthera (EL) from either Miami (MIA) or Ft. Lauderdale (FLL). Check with them to confirm schedules. Flight prices are generally around $300 to $350 roundtrip.

If you travel by boat, Hatchet Bay, three miles north, has protected anchorage, mooring, and dockage. Also, north at Valentines Yacht Club in Harbour Island, they have a modern marina with electrical hookup and fresh water (not brackish). To the south is a new marina, Runaway Bay, located in South Palmetto Point.
Rental cars are available on the island and we suggest that you rent one. The island is approximately 110 miles long and Rainbow Bay is situated about in the middle. You won't want to miss visiting both ends of the island. The rates are about $60 a day but you can get a better price for a weekly rental. Remember - you drive on the LEFT side of the road in the Bahamas!
